FY 2015 Environmental Studies Development Plan

Release Date
11/08/2013

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is beginning to develop the FY2015 Environmental Studies Development Plan. Previous plans are available on our website. We invite your participation in identifying studies to be considered for this and future plans including biological, social, economic and cultural topics.

BOEM has the responsibility for ensuring that effects on the natural and human environment are taken into consideration in renewable energy leasing and development decisions on the outer continental shelf. Through the Environmental Studies Program, BOEM funds the collection of environmental information as directed by the Outer Continental Lands Act Section 20 (a) and (b). The program focuses on baseline information about the environment and the effects from activities that result from the leasing and development process.

Please provide your suggestions using this template by December 6, 2013. This will ensure you are providing the relevant information we need to incorporate your ideas in our plan. You may visit our Renewable Energy Program website for a listing of ongoing and completed studies.

Please keep in mind that funding fluctuates from year-to-year and more studies are proposed than can be funded in any one year. Your input will assist in the development of the FY2015 plan as well as future plans. If you have any questions about the process, please contact Dr. Mary Boatman, Environmental Studies Chief, at (703) 787-1662. We appreciate your participation in this process and look forward to your suggestions.
