- The BOEM-Smithsonian partnership is advancing cutting-edge science on ocean organisms, their DNA, and their environment. A recent visit to the Museum Support Center provided a behind-the-scenes look at BOEM’s historical collection amassed over 38 years as well as recent endeavors to generate DNA barcodes from specimens stored in ethanol for years.
