Final Programmatic EIS

The Final Programmatic EIS was published on November 18th, 2016 and contains BOEM’s analysis of potential environmental, social, and economic impacts associated with the 2017-2022 Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program. This Final Programmatic EIS evaluates the potential impacts from oil and gas exploration and development in four program areas of the OCS. The Final Programmatic EIS analyzes four alternatives, including the Proposed Action (Alternative A), the Exclusion or Mitigation of Environmentally Important Areas (Alternative B), the Reduced Proposed Action (Alternative C), and the No Action (Alternative D). The analyses in the Final Programmatic EIS adopt a broad regional perspective consistent with CEQ guidance on the use of Programmatic NEPA analysis; more detailed and geographically focused analyses will be conducted at subsequent stages of the leasing process.
