July, 2026
The Indicated Hydrocarbon List (IHL) is now available from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Office of Resource Evaluation. The IHL identifies unleased Central and Western Planning Area Gulf of America (GOA) tracts that have wellbores on expired, relinquished, or terminated leases that have hydrocarbons indicated from past production, acquired a well producibility determination, or contains hydrocarbons greater than 15 feet of net pay through well log analysis. The IHL will be made available to the public approximately three months prior to each GOA lease sale.
IHL data are made available in several formats including MS Access, GeoPDF, and ESRI ArcGIS shapefiles. The IHL data and associated files can be found at:
- Indicated Hydrocarbon List Introduction
- IHL Sale BBG3 Database
- GeoPDF Map of IHL blocks and wells
- ESRI ArcGIS shapefiles
Content questions should be addressed to Petrophysical Analysis Unit.
