BACKGROUND

On Sept. 10, BOEM published in the Federal Register two documents – a Call for Information and Nominations; and a Notice of Intent to File an Environmental Impact Statement – that both relate to a proposed 2021 oil and gas lease sale in the federal waters of Cook Inlet. The publication kicked off concurrent 30-day comment periods on each document. This, the second of two Live Virtual Meetings, is being held as part of that comment period. The comment period closes at 11:59 Eastern Time on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

WHO

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is part of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Its mission is to manage development of U.S. Outer Continental Shelf energy and mineral resources in an environmentally and economically responsible way. Anyone interested in offshore energy exploration and development is welcome to attend this Live Virtual Meeting.

WHAT

A Live Virtual Meeting to listen to a presentation about the two documents referenced above. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions relating to our processes via a chat function included in the website. Live testimony will not be taken. Important: The Live Virtual Meeting will not be a vehicle for submitting comments on the documents. To do that, interested parties are directed to www.boem.gov/CookInlet2021. There they will find more information, including maps and directions for commenting on regulations.gov, the federal government’s official commenting portal.
