Reminder: Alaska Oil & Gas Lease Sale 258 Scheduled for Dec. 30

On Nov. 28, 2022, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced that it would offer approximately 958,202 acres off Alaska’s southcentral coast for an oil and gas lease sale on Dec. 30, 2022.

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 directed BOEM to hold the Cook Inlet Outer Continental Shelf Lease Sale 258 by Dec. 31, 2022, for the purpose of oil and gas exploration and development. Further, as indicated in the Final Notice of Sale, the lease is specific for oil and gas exploration and development, not other uses.

BOEM is accepting sealed bids for oil and gas leases until 10 a.m. Alaska Time on Thursday, Dec. 29. Bids may be submitted BY MAIL ONLY through any parcel delivery service (FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL) to:

The lease sale will be held publicly via a live webstream and will be accessible beginning at 9 a.m. Alaska Time, with the bid reading beginning at 10 a.m. Alaska Time.

Totals for the sale will be announced as soon as the bids are tallied at the end of the webstream.
