Due to local wildfire response staging needs, the September 26, 2023, the Gold Beach public meeting on Oregon draft Wind Energy Areas (WEAs) has been moved to a new location. The public meeting will now be held at the Gold Beach Community Center at 29841 Airport Way in Gold Beach, Oregon. Meeting time remains from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Background:

On Aug.15, 2023, after extensive engagement with ocean users, Tribes, federal and state agency partners, and stakeholders, BOEM announced the identification of two draft Wind Energy Areas (WEAs) located off the coast of southern Oregon.

BOEM's announcement initiated a 60-day public comment period during which BOEM seeks additional feedback on the two draft WEAs before any formal designation of final WEAs off the coast of Oregon is made. BOEM has scheduled several public meetings to outline information used to inform the draft WEAs and to present next steps in BOEM’s offshore wind leasing area identification process. Information on these additional meetings can be found on the BOEM's Oregon State Activities webpage.
