Nighttime Aircraft Detection Lighting System (ADLS) Simulation

Video

This video is a simulation that illustrates the proposed Ocean Wind 1 Offshore Wind Facility’s Aircraft Detection Lighting System (ADLS). The ADLS activates when an aircraft flies within three nautical miles of the wind facility area at an altitude of less than 2,000 ft.

The simulation shows a mid-sized jet flying at an altitude of 1,900 ft above sea level and a ground speed of 300 mph approaching the wind facility from the north and continuing south. The ADLS activates as the aircraft enters the three nautical mile detection zone, remains on as it flies over the win facility, and turns off once the plane leaves the wind facility area and detection zone.
