BOEM Postpones Public Meetings For 2019-2024 National OCS Offshore Oil And Gas Leasing Program

Release Date
01/22/2018

As many of you are aware, annual funding for the government expired on January 20, 2018. A lapse in funding means that a number of government activities have ceased due to a lack of appropriated funding and because a number of employees have been temporarily furloughed.

As such, the meetings scheduled for January 22-25, 2018 in support of the 2019-2014 National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program (National OCS Program) are postponed.

If the government shutdown continues, any public meetings scheduled during that time also will be rescheduled. After the government opens again, we will update the status of any postponed meetings via our website at: https://www.boem.gov/National-Program-Participate/#meeting.

Background
On January 4, 2018, the Department of Interior announced publication of a Draft Proposed Program (DPP) in support of the National OCS Program, as well as a Notice of Intent (NOI) to develop a Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS).

In order to obtain public input for these two documents, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) scheduled a series of public meetings. Information about the National OCS program can be found at https://www.boem.gov/National-Program.
