Overview
Public Law 119-21 (The 2025 "One Big Beautiful Bill Act") requires BOEM to hold at least six offshore oil and gas lease sales in Cook Inlet: one each year from 2026 to 2028, and again from 2030 to 2032. Big Beautiful Cook Inlet 1 (BBC1) was the first of these required lease sales. BOEM's Alaska OCS Region held the sale from Feb. 2, 2026 to March 4, 2026. No bids were received.

| Jan 30 | The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management announces that, in accordance with Public Law 119-21 (the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”), it will offer approximately 1.05 million acres off Alaska’s southcentral coast in a lease sale scheduled for Wednesday, March 4. A link to the livestream will be posted on this page at 9 a.m. Alaska Time that day. The reading of the bids will begin at 10 a.m. Alaska Time. The Big Beautiful Cook Inlet Lease Sale 1 (BBC1) will offer 216 blocks toward the northern part of Cook Inlet Planning Area for leasing. The blocks stretch roughly from Kalgin Island in the north to Augustine Island in the south. BOEM must receive all sealed bids before the bid submission deadline of 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 3. The Final Notice of Sale (FNOS) is available below. The FNOS will be published in the Federal Register Monday, Feb. 2.
