BOEM sponsors the Stanford University School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences Basin and Petroleum System Modeling Group. The Basin and Petroleum System Modeling Group (BPSM) is an industrial affiliates program and recognized center of excellence for training and research in the geohistories of sedimentary basins and petroleum systems. BOEM has particular interest in the BPSM effort to characterize the gas hydrate petroleum system in the Terrebonne Basin in the Gulf of Mexico.
