The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management announced its intent to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) to analyze the potential impacts of well stimulation treatments, including hydraulic fracturing, in drilling activity at 16 wells on OCS oil and gas Platform Gilda, located 8.8 miles off the coast of Ventura, California. This Notice of Intent announces the scoping process that BOEM will use to identify significant issues and potential alternatives for consideration in the EIS.

A 10-day public scoping period opened on March 18, 2026, during which BOEM invites input from Tribal, state, and local governments, stakeholders, and the public. Comments will help identify key issues, reasonable alternatives, and potential mitigation measures for consideration in the programmatic environmental impact statement.
