There are a few issues that have already been raised by members of the North Carolina Renewable Energy Task Force. For example, the United States Coast Guard has recommended that portions of the Kitty Hawk Area and Wilmington-East not be included the Call due to concerns associated with existing vessel traffic and navigation safety.
The National Park Service is concerned about the potential impact that wind energy development in Call Area Kitty Hawk could have on scenic views, night skies and experience of visitors to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
These issues will be considered as BOEM moves forward with its planning and leasing process offshore North Carolina.
