Welcome to the Gulf of Maine Research Lease Draft Environmental Assessment (Draft EA) Virtual Meeting Room. Your participation is an essential part of BOEM’s environmental review process.
On July 21, 2023, the Notice of Availability (NOA) for the Draft EA for the proposed Gulf of Maine Research Lease published in the Federal Register. The following documents are available for viewing:

The NOA initiated a 30-day public comment period that ended on August 21, 2023.
In addition to the virtual meeting room, BOEM hosted two virtual public meetings. See Public Meetings Schedule tab.

The public comment period that ended on August 21, 2023. BOEM accepted comments on the Draft EA in the following ways:
- In written form by mail, enclosed in an envelope labeled “Gulf of Maine Research Lease Draft EA” and addressed to Program Chief, Office of Renewable Energy Programs, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, 45600 Woodland Road, Sterling, VA 20166.
- Oral or written comments during any of the public meetings listed in the Notice of Availability and Virtual Meeting Room.
- Through the regulations.gov web portal by navigating to https://www.regulations.gov/ and search for Docket No. BOEM-2023-0042. Click on the “Comment” button below the document link. Enter your information and comment, then click “Submit Comment.”
