We are pleased to share some of BOEM’s technical studies that were completed in 2020. The information contained in these studies will help BOEM develop best management practices and regulatory guidance for the offshore renewable energy industry. Our 2020 areas of focus include radar interference, soil-structure interactions for offshore wind turbine foundations, geo-hazards and dynamic structural modeling. BOEM has partnered with the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) to select and fund appropriate Renewable Energy Research (REnR) to facilitate industry development, and to support research in operational safety and pollution prevention related to offshore renewable energy development through the Technology Assessment Program, formerly known as the Technology Assessment and Research Program.
