On September 10, 2020, BOEM published in the Federal Register two documents – a Call for Information and Nominations; and a Notice of Intent to File an Environmental Impact Statement – that both relate to a proposed 2021 oil and gas lease sale in the federal waters of Cook Inlet. The Sept. 10 publication kicked off concurrent 30-day comment periods on each document, which are scheduled to close at 11:59 Eastern Time on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
On Tuesday, September 29, and Thursday, October 1, 2020, BOEM hosted Live Virtual Meetings as part of this comment period. BOEM is now adding two additional Live Virtual Meetings, each on Thursday, October 8.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is part of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Its mission is to manage development of U.S. Outer Continental Shelf energy and mineral resources in an environmentally and economically responsible way. Anyone interested in offshore energy exploration and development is welcome to attend this Live Virtual Meeting.
Live Virtual Meetings to listen to a presentation about the two documents referenced above. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions relating to our processes via a chat function included in the website. Live testimony will not be taken. Important: The Live Virtual Meetings will not be a vehicle for submitting comments on the documents. To do that, interested parties are directed to www.boem.gov/CookInlet2021. There they will find more information, including maps and directions for commenting on regulations.gov, the federal government’s official commenting portal.
Live Virtual Meeting #1: 3:30 p.m. Alaska Time on Thursday, October 8, 2020. The meeting will be repeated at 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Alaska Time.
Live Virtual Meeting #2: 6:30 p.m. Alaska Time on Thursday, October 8, 2020. The meeting will be repeated at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Alaska Time.
(All meetings have the same content.)
