On May 11, 2017, the MidA RPB was honored along with the Northeast RPB and the Ocean SAMP team in Rhode Island as recipients of the 2017 Peter Benchley Ocean Award for "Excellence in Solutions" for successful development of their respective ocean plans to engage in regional ocean planning
