The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) would like to inform you that we are extending the comment period on the Notice of Intent (NOI) to Prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for Wind Leasing and Site Assessment Activities on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Offshore the Island of O'ahu. The comment deadline, originally set for August 8, will be extended an additional 30 days and will now end on September 7, 2016. The original NOI was published in the Federal Register on June 24, 2016.

Through the Notice of Intent (NOI), BOEM is seeking public comment for determining issues and alternatives to be analyzed in the EA, which will consider potential environmental impacts associated with issuing future commercial wind leases and approving site assessment activities on the lease areas.

Issuance of the NOI is a very early step in BOEM's offshore wind process. Stakeholder comments and input will be critical to informing BOEM's decision-making process moving forward.
