The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management will hold Lease Sale Big Beautiful Gulf 1, or BBG1, on Dec. 10, 2025, offering approximately 80 million acres in the Gulf of America for oil and gas leasing. This lease sale is the first of 30 Gulf of America lease sales required by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (Public Law No: 119-21) and supports President Trump’s unyielding commitment to expanding domestic energy production and advancing U.S. energy security.
BOEM is accepting sealed bids until 10 a.m. Central Time on Dec. 9, the day prior to the sale. Details on how to submit bids are outlined in the Final Notice of Sale.
The lease sale will begin at 9 a.m. Central Time and will be livestreamed at www.boem.gov/Sale-BBG1.
The Final Notice of Sale for BBG1 was published in the Federal Register on Nov. 10, 2025, initiating the required 30-day notice period. The FNOS includes instructions for bid submission, lease stipulations, and information to lessees. For more information, visit www.boem.gov/Sale-BBG1.
