What’s New?
On Aug. 19, 2025, the Department of the Interior announced an anticipated schedule for oil and gas lease sales as required by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The lease sales are planned in the Gulf of America and Cook Inlet, Alaska. The OBBBA requires a minimum of 30 lease sales in the GOA and six in the Cook Inlet through 2040.
BOEM is responsible for all Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) leasing policy and program development issues for oil, gas and other marine minerals.
